Jesse Graves (Howie Long), a daring smoke jumper, begins his day tasked with the rescue of several fellow firefighters who are trapped during an astounding forest fire. When he commits to the operation and jumps into the middle of the fire, he soon learns that the firefighters’ cry for help was actually a decoy for the jail break of convicted murderer Randall Shaye (William Forsythe). Shaye’s plan is to escape and find his long lost stash of money, which totals around forty million dollars. When Graves learns of this plan he must not only track down the aforementioned antagonist, but must also rescue ornithologist Jennifer (Suzy Amis) and other innocent people whose lives are in jeopardy because of the forest fire.
